I have been an artist my whole life. And, as most artist, am always looking for new ways to express myself. I have found that in photography. I have been a photographer for over 30 years now and as a professional independent photographer for over 3 years. Recently a fellow photographer commented to me that photographers are “hunters of light”, which I find is a very adequate way of describing this craft of ours. We seek capturing moments, but not just moments, rather, moments captured in a way in which the lighting and composition bring the viewer into the image. My goal as a photographer is to do just that, to bring you into the image and let your eyes and mind discover the beauty of the lighting, how the subtleties of shadows interplay with the highlights and overall composition of the image. There are images all around us, all the time. It is up to us to see them. If by sharing my photography with others, I can show a different perspective to what may otherwise be a normal everyday thing, I believe that I would have accomplished something good, something creative.
Currently I am living just outside Barcelona on the coast and work as an Independent Photographer. I am a monthly contributor to the Barcelona Metropolitan, an English magazine that is geared towards English speaking expats as well as tourists. When I got to Barcelona back in 2002, it was actually one of the first magazines I picked up because it has stories on the history and culture of Barcelona, as well as the nightlife and restaurant scenes. I have also contributed to newspapers in the United States and local free newspapers. I have had the privilege of attending a Firstlight Workshop, led by Jay Dickman. Jay is a Pulitzer prize-winning National Geographic photographer from whom I learned an enormous amount. If you are a photography enthusiast, I recommend his workshops. You will come out the other side a changed person.
I hope you enjoy what you see here. Feel free to go to the Blog section and leave a comment on anything and if you want to get in touch with me directly, just go to the “Contact Me” section and leave a message.
